Biography

Sebastian SanchezSebastian Sanchez commenced dancing flamenco in 2000 training and attending regular classes with his first maestra Simone Pope at the respected ‘Flamenco Studio’ in Brisbane, Australia.

Sebastian and Simone PopeAfter several years training with Simone, Sebastian travelled to Andalucia Spain, to the origin of his family roots with a view of progressing his artistic career and has trained intensively for a number of years in Seville and Jerez de la Frontera.

In doing so, he has been mentored and has continued to evolve with international artists and maestros such as Rafael Campallo, Manuel Betanzos, Andrés Peña, Juan de los Reyes, and Alejandro Granados.

Sebastian has returned to Australia on a regular basis and invited by several schools as a guest teacher. And has also taught regular classes, workshops and provided private tuition throughout Europe, including Spain and a number of Academies throughout Russia.

Sebastian has also been invited by national and local flamenco companies within Australian i.e. Flamenco Fire (Australia/Brisbane) Flamenco del Mar (Sydney), Bandaluzia (Sydney), and Flamenco Puro (Perth) to perform as a soloist in venues, major concert halls, theatres and festivals around the country such as Kulcha (Perth), The Basement (Sydney), QPAC (Brisbane), Woodford Folk Festival (Sydney). Recently he has also been invited to perform with Flamenco Fire in their regional tour of QLD (Primavera Mia 2011) and perform in their recent season in QPAC, Gypsy Pathways to great success and reviews.

Sebastian has also performed internationally several times and toured as an invited artist in New Caledonia, Seville and in Russia in venues such as the Huelva Ocho Tablao, Sevilla, the Moscow Jazz Club and the esteemed Moscow International Performing Arts Centre.
